Amazon.co.uk Review
As the bouquet sails through the air, this album is the ideal Italian wedding accompaniment. It's just as you'd picture the scene after watching
The Godfather--the flowers, picket fences, and upon the bandstand a crooner-for-hire warbling through Dean Martin classics ("On An Evening In Roma"), and other Italian-American swooners. The songs on this album capture perfectly the swingin' garden-party atmosphere. Basil Poledouris' score blends unnoticeably to begin with: "Truckers On Time", "Going To Gina", and "Wedding Reception" enjoy the ensemble feel of accordion, piano, and drumset. Toward the end of the album, though, a couple of dramatic cues ("Johnny's Funeral" and "Death Is OK By Me") hint at the powerhouse composer of
Starship Troopers. These tracks seem out of place, like an unprecedented fight between Groom and Best Man. But once past, the twirling on the grass continues in fine Nino ("Godfather") Rota style.
